Bickering

[Big Boy and Baby Girl bickering]
Big Boy: Don't touch me! I don't like to be touch-ed.

I find his outburst funny because I too don't like to be touched unnecessarily too, hahaha.

Finished!

Little Red Riding Hood

I had originally planned on dressing Baby Girl as Snow White, but due to her unfortunate hair cut that made her look more like Dora, I decided to go back to the original plan of dressing her as Little Red Riding Hood; I had ordered The Big Bad Wolf costume for Big Boy anyway.

I didn't want to spend too much money on the costume, fabrics and material, they all add up. So I had planned on using the red velvet dress that she already owned, but I thought against it, it was too much red and not quite the look I was going for.

I had bought a vintage pattern from the 60's and I had the pieces cut out anyway, so I just decided to make do with that and I'm glad I did. Doesn't it look cute? I contemplated the apron, thought about making it, but I already had the pinafore cut out and it's only for a day... little deviant from the original can't hurt...

So two days later, voila!

Baby Girl's First Ballet Lesson!

Baby Girl's First Ballet Lesson!

Is she cute or what?!

When Big Boy was little, we did a lot of activities with him, but we are finding it hard to offer Baby Girl the same gungho energy we had for her older brother. I thought it would be nice to spend some mommy-daughter time while her brother was in school so I signed her up for Baby Ballerina. When we got there all the little girls seemed to pay attention and enjoy dancing, but what did my Baby Girl do? Bee line to the dance bar and proceeded to do the army crawl, just like her big brother at taekwondo lessons. Oi.

I thought I'd be spending a leisurely time, just me and her, but it turned out kind of hectic as the schedule went: drop off Big Boy at school, return home and contribute an hour to work, get ready for ballet class, return home and contribue 40 minutes to work, go and pick up Big Boy from school, contribute few hours to work. So yeah... not quite how I imagined, but how cute is she?! =)

FEED Our Small World Collection by Feed & Disney

FEED Our Small World Collection by Feed & Disney

What do you get when FEED Projects and Disney collaborate? Feed Our Small World Collection, and what a collection! I want to collect them all!

I love trivia, and here is some about "It's a Small World" from Disney website:

The Song Heard 'Round "it's a small world"

The original concept for "it's a small world" had the dolls singing the national anthem from each country they represented. A good idea in theory, but everyone singing a different tune resulted in a musical cacophony that clearly weakened the attraction's theme of harmony.

In the mid-1960s, Walt Disney interrupted staff composers Robert and Richard Sherman's work on the score for the upcoming Disney film, Mary Poppins, to write the single theme song for "it's a small world."

Robert and Richard Sherman's first version of the "it's a small world" song was written as a ballad. Walt requested something more cheerful, so the song was sped up and sung as a round, or roundelay.

Because of the repetition and because the Sherman Brothers used a musical technique called counterpoint, where the same chords are played over and over again but with different melodies, the song they wrote is catchy and unforgettable.

At the first presentation to Walt Disney, Robert and Richard Sherman performed "it's a small world" song while walking through a scale model of the attraction, singing and clapping their hands. Walt was delighted.

In full spirit of international unity, "it's a small world" song was recorded in various studios around the world. The song was sung by a church choir in London, TV performers in Mexico City, a school chorus in Rome, Italy, and by children from Tokyo, Japan and Burbank, California.
